De-Group Contracting were awarded the main structure alterations package at Ealing Broadway shopping centre.
This involved the formation of new foundations to take several new lift pits including new pile caps and beams along with the construction of new escalator pits.
De-Group Contracting were also tasked with the partial demolition of the existing reinforced concrete lift shaft across three floors and creating a new and enlarged goods lift. Further demolition to the existing front façade and forming the new entrance with design and installation of all associated temporary works.
Other groundworks carried out included a new underground drainage installation including a sump pump chamber.
Challenges:
Given the complexity of this project paired with a challenging programme and section handovers De-Group Contracting overcame a number of additional environment constraints including existing tenants and noise restrictions.
Nevertheless, a positive proactive approach to all elements of works carried out meant a successful completion in line with both programme and budgets.
