Network Rail has completed this programme of works to increase the capacity for passengers and improve air quality for people who live and work near the railway, creating new connections and increasing capacity in peak hour by 30 per cent. The Gospel Oak to Barking line reopened on Monday 15 January 2018 following the installation of new overhead electric lines and equipment by Network Rail.
Two-car diesel trains are being used until TfL’s new four car electric fleet have been fully tested and driver training completed. Later this year TfL will introduce new four-carriage electric trains that will provide double the current capacity so that twice as many people can travel comfortably on this route.
Civils:
Supply of fully equipped civils gangs installing platform extensions, drainage,
fencing, walkways and access gates, coper stones
Telecoms:
Installed and Upgraded all of the cctv, pa systems, help points, CIS and comms systems on various station along the route, this also involved all the regeneration of existing systems to integrate with the new works.
