Working for the design and build team of a principal contractor in the rail sector, the main purpose of the role is to produce civil and structural designs for a range of schemes, including lineside civils, signalling, telecoms, power and structural buildings. End clients are Network Rail and London Underground.

Responsibilities:
  • Create feasibility studies, outline and detailed designs in accordance with client requirements and industry standards
  • Ensure designs are buildable and cost-effective
  • Oversee CAD technicians producing engineering drawings
  • Carry out civil engineering design and assessment for a range of railway infrastructure assets, including equipment bases, bridges, platforms, lineside structures and buildings
  • Conduct project planning, programming, cost control
  • Report on project progress and expenditure
  • Attend project meetings with internal and external stakeholders
  • Ensure all designs comply with health and safety legislation and CDM regulations
  • Supervise and mentor junior design engineer colleagues, assisting with their ongoing training and development

Requirements:
  • Previous experience in civil / structural design, ideally within a rail or infrastructure environment 
  • Degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering 
  • Experience using Tekla Tedds
  • Understanding and experience of Eurocodes
  • Knowledge of Network Rail and London Underground design standards and processes 
  • Driving licence
