Our client, a leader in geotechnical engineering and construction materials testing, is seeking a CMT Department Engineer to oversee material testing operations, ensuring compliance with industry standards and project specifications. This role is ideal for an experienced engineer with a strong background in construction materials testing, quality control, and field supervision.
As a CMT Department Engineer, you will lead a team of technicians, manage testing operations for soil, concrete, and structural materials, and collaborate with project teams to ensure materials meet performance and safety requirements. Key Responsibilities:
🔹 Material Testing & Quality Control:
- Oversee and conduct field and lab tests on soil, concrete, aggregates, and structural steel.
- Analyze test results to ensure compliance with ASTM, AASHTO, and regulatory standards.
- Identify non-compliance issues and recommend corrective actions.
🔹 Project & Team Management:
- Manage CMT projects from planning to execution, ensuring testing and inspections are completed on schedule.
- Supervise and mentor field and lab technicians, ensuring adherence to proper testing procedures.
- Coordinate with contractors, engineers, and project managers to support construction activities.
🔹 Field Supervision & Compliance:
- Perform on-site inspections to verify foundation work, compaction testing, concrete pours, and paving operations.
- Ensure all safety protocols are followed during fieldwork.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of construction codes, materials regulations, and testing standards.
🔹 Client & Technical Communication:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, providing updates and technical support.
- Prepare and review technical reports, summaries, and data analysis for project stakeholders.
- Attend project meetings to discuss material testing results and their impact on construction.
Qualifications:
✅ B.S. in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related field.
✅ PE (Professional Engineer) license required.
✅ 5+ years of experience in construction materials testing or geotechnical engineering.
✅ Certifications in ACI, NICET, or ICC (preferred).
✅ Knowledge of ASTM, AASHTO, and DOT testing methods.
✅ Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, AutoCAD, and materials testing software.
✅ Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
