Our client, a leading geotechnical construction company, is seeking a Geotechnical Lab Manager to join their team in Houston, TX . About the Role

As the Geotechnical Lab Manager, you will oversee the day-to-day operations of the laboratory, ensuring accurate and reliable testing for various geotechnical projects. You’ll be responsible for managing a team of lab technicians, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards, and coordinating with project managers and engineers to meet project requirements. This role requires a hands-on leader who can balance technical expertise with strong management skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and manage laboratory operations, including soil, rock, and construction materials testing.

  • Lead, train, and mentor lab technicians, fostering a positive and productive work environment.

  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and company protocols.

  • Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment to ensure accurate results.

  • Prepare and review reports on testing results, data analysis, and quality control.

  • Coordinate with project teams to ensure timely and accurate delivery of test results.

  • Monitor lab performance and implement improvements to optimize efficiency and accuracy.

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience : Minimum of 5 years of experience in geotechnical laboratory operations, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role.

  • Education : Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related field preferred.

  • Technical Knowledge : Proficient in laboratory testing methods for soil, aggregate, and concrete.

  • Leadership Skills : Proven ability to manage and mentor a team, promoting a culture of safety and accuracy.

  • Communication : Strong verbal and written skills for effective reporting and team coordination.

  • Attention to Detail : High level of accuracy and consistency in data analysis and reporting.
