Experienced HV Design Engineer wanted to join a friendly and vibrant team, which is heavily involved in the integration of renewable generation onto the UK high-voltage transmission and distribution (HV T&D) network.
This role will focus on the design and analysis of HV networks from 33kV to 132kV, supporting a wide range of renewable and infrastructure projects across the UK.
Responsibilities:
- Design HV electrical networks from 33kV to 132kV
- Carry out power systems analysis, including load flow, fault level and system studies
- Use industry-standard software such as DIgSILENT PowerFactory and/or PSCAD
- Review, check, and approve HV designs and engineering reports
- Lead technical meetings and liaise directly with clients and stakeholders
- Provide technical guidance and mentor junior engineers
- Ensure designs comply with UK standards, DNO requirements, and best practice
- Proven experience in the design and analysis of HV networks in the UK, covering connections, substations, control and protection etc
- Strong technical knowledge at 33kV, with experience up to 132kV
- Experience using power systems analysis tools (e.g. DIgSILENT, PSCAD)
- Ability to communicate confidently with clients and lead technical discussions
- Experience checking designs and producing high-quality engineering reports
- Background working for a consultancy or ICP (the latter with experience at at minimum of 33kV)
- Experience integrating renewable energy projects (wind, solar, BESS, etc.)
- Knowledge of UK grid codes, DNO standards, and compliance processes
