The Deploy Recruitment Group are seeking several experienced Assistant OHLE/OCS Engineers for an exciting role working on a major project to revolutionise travel in the Greater Dublin Area. The ambitious project will see its current length grow by over 100km, bringing with it massive benefits to new and local communities in the area.

It will be a key driver in making public transport the preferred option for travel for more and more people and boost the region's connectivity. The improvements will deliver frequent, modern, electrified services within the Greater Dublin Area (GDA) and will improve connectivity to Regional towns and cities.

Role Summary:
 

  • Responsible for the day-to-day management of the appointed ‘Design & Build’ OHLE Renewals contractor
  • Overseeing the design, installation, testing and commissioning of renewals of electrification OHLE systems
  • To provide technical support and assistance in the Renewal of Electrification OHLE systems on the existing infrastructure
  • Interfacing with various departments and stakeholders, including Operations and CCE, to agree on planned railway shutdowns and works.
  • Working on-site with electrification staff and OHLE renewals contractors delivering the OHLE renewals programme
  • Monitor, report and assist with the smooth implementation of projects within the OHLE Department
  • To provide supporting documentation and any other professional support to the OCS Renewals Engineer as required
  • Implementation of client and SET Standards
  • Contract Management from tender stage to project completion
  • Effective utilisation of in-house and external resources
  • To provide any other professional support to the OCS Renewals Engineer as required



Specific Responsibilities:
  • Plan, organise and implement the OCS Asset Renewal activity
  • Reviewing works carried out, as per Design & Specification, by OCS Design & Build Contractor for Quality and Operational purposes
  • Reviewing all documentation submitted by OCS Contractor
  • Attend all meetings necessary for Planning, Implementing and Progress Purposes
  • Interact with other stakeholders to deliver plans efficiently and effectively
  • Taking a lead in the further development of Electrification asset management, OHLE in particular
  • Taking a lead in preventive maintenance of Electrification assets
  • Taking a lead in fault-finding and testing of electrification sub-systems
  • Preparation and checking of electrical schematics as required
  • Preparation and checking of electronic control systems data as required
  • Preparing and implementing testing plans
  • Ensure that you keep yourself informed of changes/updates in legislation.
  • Ensure that you keep yourself informed and up-to-date on Company Standards.
  • Ensure that version control of software is carefully managed
  • Ensure that all testing records and documentation is completed accurately and filed in a secure location
  • Ensure that operating instructions are maintained with accuracy and are kept up-to-date.
  • Assist in the preparation of safety documentation
  • Liaise with staff assigned to technical projects so that project objectives are achieved
  • Ensure that corporate HR policy and procedures are adhered to within the Electrification Technical team
  • Plan, monitor and report on all financial aspects of those works for which you are responsible
  • Prepare and manage budgets as necessary
  • Undertake all activities in line with client governing procurement policies and procedure

  • Working with HV electricity as per NSAI Standards EN 50110.
  • Working within the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work General Applications 2007 part 3: electricity.
  • Working within the Safety, Health & Welfare at Work acts and the Construction Regulations.
  • Adhere to the company rules, regulations and standards.
  • Writing and checking Method Statements when required.
  • Partake in safety case preparation as and when required.

General Management Responsibilities:
  • Safety: To act as a focus for safety in line with the SET SMS and to discharge your safety responsibilities as outlined by your reporting Manager and SRS
  • Engineering: To ensure the implementation of policies, standards and strategies in line with SET Technical Standards and Company policy
  • People: To ensure constant communication with all colleagues in your area and support the People Management policy within the IM team

So, what are we looking for?

Qualifications:

Essential:
 
  • Professional engineering qualification (Degree, Level 8) or equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Construction. Candidates with a Level 8 Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction or Mechanical Engineering will be suitable for roles within the OHLE team
  • Minimum of 5 years project engineering experience in Railways or relevant regulated engineering / Construction environment
  • Experience in managing design consultants
  • Excellent Knowledge of Construction Regulations
  • Ability to produce and maintain documentation to a high standard
  • Demonstrated Safety Management capability appropriate to the role and purpose of the position
  • Strong leadership, negotiation and interpersonal skills
  • Relevant general management and project management experience for projects of similar complexity
  • Demonstrable ability to produce and manage budgets and schedules of similar-sized projects
  • Proven commercial skills, awareness and experience in construction projects

Desirable:
 
  • Professional experience in OHLE Renewals & Rail Traction
  • Experience in a railway electrification design office and /or testing and commissioning railway Traction / OHLE schemes
  • CAD / Micro station experience
  • Excellent planning, scheduling and organizational skills
  • OLEC qualifications or equivalent
  • Full clean driving license
  • A good working knowledge of Railway Infrastructure, Systems and Operations
  • Knowledge of the Construction Regulations
  • Experience and understanding of Safety Assurance processes
  • Demonstrable understanding of good Project Management procedures
  • Member of Engineers Ireland or other relevant professional body

The project is due to continue for the foreseeable future, and with the client having a very strong pipeline of projects, this is being offered as a permanent opportunity. The package includes the possibility of a one-off ‘relocation payment’ for any individuals who may seek to move to Dublin or the surrounding areas for the opportunity.

Hybrid Working: there is a minimum of 3 days per week required in the office / on site, depending on your role
Contracted Hours : 36 hours per week
Annual Leave Entitlement: 25 days per annum, rising to 28 based on service.
