Quantity Surveyor – Rail Projects | Birmingham

Location: Birmingham
Contract: 6 months
IR35: Outside IR35
Rate: £400–£550 per day

We’re looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join a major rail project based in Birmingham, on an initial 6-month contract.

You’ll play a key role in managing the commercial performance of the project, working closely with project managers, contractors and key stakeholders to ensure costs, change and contractual matters are effectively managed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage commercial and cost control activities across rail projects
  • Prepare valuations, forecasts and cost reports
  • Manage variations, change control and commercial risk
  • Support procurement and subcontract management
  • Review and negotiate applications, accounts and claims
  • Monitor project costs against budgets and forecasts
  • Work closely with project and delivery teams
  • Ensure contractual and commercial requirements are met

About You

  • Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within rail or major infrastructure
  • Strong understanding of NEC contracts
  • Experience managing subcontractors, variations and change
  • Strong commercial, analytical and negotiation skills
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
