The Deploy Recruitment Group are seeking an experienced Traction Renewals Supervisor for an exciting role working on a major project to revolutionise travel in the Greater Dublin Area. The ambitious project will see its current length grow by over 100km, bringing with it massive benefits to new and local communities in the area.
It will be a key driver in making public transport the preferred option for travel for more and more people and boost the region's connectivity. The improvements will deliver frequent, modern, electrified services within the Greater Dublin Area (GDA) and will improve connectivity to Regional towns and cities.

Role Summary:
- To manage on and off-site all aspects of the Traction renewals programme associated with Traction Sub-stations, Traction Switch-houses and Traction feeder cables
- Support in Electrification project delivery
- Support in Traction Maintenance when required by the Traction Maintenance Engineer
- To create solid working relationships with colleagues and key stakeholders, such as other electrification staff, suppliers, Contractors, ECO’s, CER/CRR Commissions, Safety Representatives and visitors
- Manage and control contractors carrying out Traction Renewals/Replacement work
- Manage traction electricians and other electrification staff, assisting with renewals/replacement works as necessary
- Assist in planning renewals/replacement work on traction supplies
- Maintain comprehensive records of all renewal activities and all remedial/renewal work carried out in Traction Substations, Switch houses, Traction cables, etc
- Manage the upkeep of all drawing records on site and ensure that any modifications are accurately recorded and drawings are updated by the Technical Office
- To manage work sites in accordance with Health and Safety and Electricity Regulations
- Ensure compliance with all relevant Standards and statutory requirements
- Organisation of resources required to deliver Traction equipment renewals, including the required manpower, materials, tools and equipment, access to the equipment to be maintained, transport, resources from other departments, and advance notification to operators
- Ensure all planned works are completed in line with the programme
- Lead and direct Electrification Staff in your area, developing each one's potential and ensuring effective communication with them
- Manage the competency of all staff to ensure that staff are only allocated work that they are competent to perform.
- Support and plan technical training for traction staff and support the provision of training and competency to staff under your control as defined in the SET-SMS-004 Competency Assessment & Training.
- Support the provision of training and competency to apprentices assigned to work with you under your control.
- Brief staff when required on updated standards or other relevant notices derived from Technical staff
- Assist in budget preparation
- Manage spend in line with the allocated budget
Safety:
- Management of working to the relevant EN, NSAI and company standards for railway and HV installations
- Management of working in accordance with the Health and Safety at Work Act and the Construction Regulations
- Management of asset and occupational safety in accordance with the SET Safety Management System
- Understand and apply the requirements of safety, Health and Welfare at Work. General Applications 2007 part 3: Electricity
- Follow the instructions and technical advice of the Traction Renewals Engineer/Traction Maintenance Engineer/ Technical Manager Electrification
- Ensuring that the workloads are appropriately planned and prioritised such that resources are allocated according to the safety priorities
- Carry out safety tours
- Undertake risk workshops, daily staff briefings and site briefings
- Manage risks identified diligently
- Maintain records of training and competence of all staff under your control

Qualifications:
Essential:
- Electrical Trade Qualification and at least five years of relevant working experience
- Experience of working in a Traction Power supply and/or HV power environment
- Knowledge of IE SET Safety Management System principles and standards
- Good communication skills
- Ability to work within a pressurised environment
- Knowledge of Traction Maintenance standards
- Basic PC skills
- Clean Driving licence
Desirable:
- Experience supervising staff
- Knowledge of SCADA control systems
- Demonstrated experience in traction maintenance and fault-finding
- Use of SAP systems
- Demonstrated experience in managing a team and ability to manage work in a railway environment

The project is due to continue for at least the next 6 years, and as such, this is being offered as a permanent opportunity.
